A WORLD HELD TOGETHER BY COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES

People around the world are helping neighbours, sharing skills,
fixing things, improving places and solving small problems.

GlobeGlue finds and shares those community activities. You could be useful today too. Find something useful that needs doing. Share something useful already happening. Start something useful. Meet other people and do something useful together.

“See something useful? Take the idea. Adapt it. Do it where you are.”

WHY THIS MATTERS?

Work and society are changing. Purpose, connection and belonging cannot depend only on employment or consumption. Being useful to other people gives us another source of connection, experience and belonging.
Comunity activities does not have to be large. It starts with doing something useful for someone else, a group or a community.

AM YOU READY TO DO SOMETHING USEFUL?

You don't need special qualifications. You don't need lots of time. You don't need to know exactly where to start. You may already have something somebody needs: TIME · KNOWLEDGE · EXPERIENCE · SKILLS · ENERGY

CHILDREN NEED TO LEARN THAT THEY CAN BE USEFUL TOO

Children spend years learning about the world. They also need experience doing something useful in it.
- A real problem.
- A real person or community.
- A real responsibility.
- A useful outcome.
That gives children experience that classroom exercises alone cannot provide. They learn that what they know can be used. They learn by doing. And they see that what they do can matter.

GlobeGlue helps people contribute their time, skills, ideas and practical
help to do something useful for others or their community.

USE → ADAPT → CONTRIBUTE → SHARE AGAIN

FOUR WAYS TO BE USEFUL

1. EXPLORE SCHOOL COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES

Show what students have done that was useful to someone else and view what other schools around the world have done useful in community activities.

2.SHARE A COMMUNITY ACTIVITY

Share something useful that you, a few people, a group or an organisation have done in your community. See what other people are doing too.

3. FIND OR START GROUP COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES

Find something useful to join or start something yourself. An activity can begin with one person, a few people or a group. Bring in other people when the activity needs them.

4. MEETS: ADVERTISE AN EXISTING PUBLIS MEETUP

A place for organisers to share public meet-ups that are already happening, so more people can find them and take part. GlobeGlue does not organise these meet-ups. It helps people find them.

Free to use. No membership fees. No subscriptions. No account.
Just useful things people can do.

GlobeGlue must not be used to recruit people to political, religious, commercial or ideological organisations, campaigns or movements; promote products or services; solicit money, donations, funding or sponsorship; or disguise these activities as community contribution.

Content that uses GlobeGlue for these purposes will be removed.

ABOUT GLOBEGLUE

GlobeGlue is a free project about people contributing to the lives of other people and their communities.

WHO CREATED AND FUNDS GLOBEGLUE?

Ken spent a significant part of his working life as an expat working in different countries and those experiences helped inspire GlobalGlue, particularly the idea that simple opportunities can help people meet, contribute and do things together.

Every day, schools, communities, groups and individuals do useful things. Many of those contributions remain local and are never seen by people elsewhere who could learn from them or try something similar.GlobeGlue finds and shares these real examples so that good ideas can travel. It also provides simple ways to find groups, meet people and turn an idea into something real. We believe contribution does not have to be large or complicated. Small actions matter.

Contributions found by GlobeGlue are based on publicly available information and include a link to the original source. The website makes the connection. What happens next belongs to people.

GlobeGlue has no membership fees, subscriptions or user accounts. It is not a social network and does not exist to keep people online

WHAT DOES GLOBALGLUE MEAN BY CONTRIBUTION?

GlobalGlue is about sharing useful things people have actually done.

Something useful done for someone else or the place where you live.It can be small. It doesn't have to be organised by GlobeGlue. If your school or community is already doing something useful, you can simply share what you did so other people can learn from it.

GLOBALGLUE IS A COMMUNITY SERVICE, NOT A COMMERCIAL SERVCE.

It is not a place to:
- ask for money or donations
- fundraise
- recruit staff or volunteers
- advertise or sell products or services
- promote an organisation, campaign or cause
- collect people's personal information
- Find people to make a specific GlobalGlue idea happen —> yes.
- Use GlobalGlue to recruit people into your organisation —> no.

You can share what you did and what difference it made.CONTRIBUTE. DON'T SOLICIT.

ABOUT IMAGES

GlobeGlue does not republish photographs supplied by contributing organisations or taken from third-party websites. To protect privacy and avoid copyright and permission issues, HubTribe creates its own illustrative images for listings. These images provide a visual representation of the subject only. They do not show the actual people, places or events described in the contribution and should not be treated as evidence of the contribution.Where available, the original source link is provided so readers can see the organisation's own information and evidence.

WHAT IF I HAVE A PROBLEM?

Use HELP to report a problem. If you ever feel unsafe, leave the situation and get appropriate help rather than waiting for GlobeGlue.

AIMS

GlobeGlue exists to strengthen the human connections that help communities work. We want to help build a more connected and contributive society, one small action at a time.We do this by making useful contributions visible, helping good ideas travel and making it easier for people to find others who want to do something useful too.

PEOPLE ARE THE GLUE

GlobeGlue does not create communities. People do. We simply try to make useful connections easier.

FOCUS ON WHAT CONNECTS US

People do not have to agree about everything to do something useful together.

MAKE CONTRIBUTION VISIBLE

Useful things happen every day. Sharing them helps other people see what is possible.

GOOD IDEAS SHOULD TRAVEL

An idea that works in one school or community may work somewhere completely different. Share it. Adapt it. Try it.

START SMALL

Contribution does not have to be grand. A few people doing something useful can make a real difference.

DO THINGS FOR REAL

Contribution means doing something useful for real people, communities or the places we share.

CONTRIBUTE, DON’T JUST CONSUME

Everyone has something they can contribute: time, knowledge, skills, experience, ideas or practical help.

PEOPLE COME BEFORE THE PLATFORM

GlobeGlue should help people spend less time on the website and more time doing things with other people.

DON’T EXPLOIT PARTICIPATION

No membership fees. No subscriptions. No unnecessary accounts or profiles. No advertising machinery. No unnecessary collection of personal information.

KEEP IT SIMPLE

If GlobeGlue becomes complicated, we have probably lost sight of what it is for.

KEEP IT REAL

GlobeGlue shares real contributions supported by a public source. We describe what happened in our own words, identify where the information came from and link to the original source. We do not publish an idea or intention as though it has already happened.

GlobeGlue isn’t the glue. People are. We simply want to help that glue hold a little better.
